Gentian root is an extremely bitter herb which stimulates appetite and digestion. In that way it subserves saliva, stomach fluid and gall production. It is indicated for cases of anorexia and slow digestion symptoms, such as indigestion and flatulence.  By stimulating digestion, it has a general positive effect on the whole body.
