Meadowsweet is one of the best digestive curatives. It acts protectively and soothingly on the mucous membranes of the digestive tract, reducing hyperacidity and soothing nausea.  It is used to cure heartburn, hyperacidity and peptic ulcers. Its mild astringency is useful against diarrhea in children. Its content in substances similar to those of aspirin explains the action of meadowsweet in treating fever and relieving rheumatic pains in muscles and joints.
